PJ Harvey inhere to most influential and important big names of a contemporary rock music. For her labels and shows, using almost spectacular and vaudevillian elements, she receives a big respect of reviewers as well as music fans, who are regularly selling out her performances all around the world. She is also known for her provocative texts, often inspired with love, faith, war and sex. Among the accolades PJ Harvey received have been the 2001 Mercury Prize, seven BRIT Award nominations, six Grammy Awards nominations and three further Mercury Prize nominations. The Rolling Stone Magazine named her 1992´s Best New Artist and Best Singer Songwriter and 1995´s Artist of the Year, and placed two of her albums on its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. She worked with many other big names - Nick Cave, Thom Yorke, Björk, John Parish, Tricky, Sparklehorse, Josh Homme, Pascal Comelade or Mark Lanegan.

PJ Harvey (Polly Jean Harvey) grew up on a small sheep farm in Yeovil, England. At an early age, she learned to play guitar and saxophone. In 1991, together with Stevem Vaughanem (bass-guitar) and Robertem Ellisem (drums), she formed her own band called PJ Harvey and during the first year of its existence, her first LP „Dry“ succeeded in British Top 10 and in USA. The second album „Rid of Me“ was engineered by Steve Albini. After the group officially disbanded in 1993, PJ Harvey makes her comeback in 1995 with her solo album „To Bring You My Love“, which became very successfull in the wide, mainstream range. In 1998 the „Is This Desire?“ follows, in 2000 the album „Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea“ is released, inspired by her stay in New York and for which she received another Mercury Prize. Next album „Uh Huh Her“ came on in 2004, three years later than „White Chalk“, her first record based on piano play. On the LP „Let England Shake“ from 2011, recorded in the 19 century church, she moves from a personal confession towards a political pronouncement and a war theme. Outside her better-known musical carreer, P J Harvey also goes in for painting, drawing, she is also an accomplished sculptor as well as a prose and poetry writer.
